When You Want to Be a Better Mom But You Don't Know How
I love being a mom. I bet you do too. But no matter how much we love being moms, inevitably something will happen, and the deepest heart-cries boiling inside us will burst into full view:
"I have no idea what I'm doing!"
"I miss my friends!"
"No one appreciates all that I do!"
"Who am I, anyway?"
When we encounter the deepest cries of our momming hearts, we are getting closer to understanding the secret of The Better Mom.
Most of us deeply desire to be a better mom. It is certainly a noble calling. However, the truth is most of the time we feel lost. We wish someone would just show us HOW. We want the steps to follow, the boxes to check and the manual to print off.
But, I think we have it all wrong.
Becoming a better mom isn't so much about what we are doing, but more about who we are becoming. Just as we are shaping our children, God is using motherhood to shape us.
I know motherhood can be overwhelming! It’s tempting to glorify the mess and equally as tempting to idolize perfection. Both are unhealthy extremes in this great journey of raising children.
Over seven years ago, I started thebettermom.com. This beautiful community is a place where we come together to grow and learn as moms. We don't think we ARE better, but we desire to be better. We are from all different walks of life, in different seasons and stages of motherhood. We would all agree that this motherhood journey is grueling.....yet, so glorious!
