5 Tips to Get Your New Year’s Resolutions Back on Track

5 Tips to Get Your New Year’s Resolutions Back on Track

As popular as making a list of new year’s resolutions is, it’s not uncommon to get off track on our goals by this time of the year. I read somewhere that only about 8% of people actually keep their new year’s resolutions. Gyms across the country see an explosion in attendance in January, yet by February numbers drop significantly. I actually used to work in the fitness industry for several years after college. We’d all joke that by February things would slow back down to a normal pace. Only those who were consistent before the new year would seem to be consistent in the new year.

So, what is the secret? How do you get consistent with something and stick to it?

There are a lot of contributing factors to why resolutions just don’t stick into the new year. More often than not, it’s just the sheer number of resolutions that are made. It’s impossible to make changes in every area of your life all at one time. Other times we’re just too unclear as to what we are trying to accomplish.

Before you decide to throw in the towel on your new year’s goals, here’s a few tips to help you get back on track.

To recap:

1)     Re-evaluate your goals in light of your priorities.

2)     Write down your “why” next to each goal and include verses if you can.

3)     Pick which goals to focus on first. Remember my story in the video — Multitasking and goal setting don’t mix well.

4)     Create an Action Plan

5)     Dust yourself off and keep going using the secret sauce discussed in the video.

You can do it! Your new year’s goals and resolutions can be achieved. They may need to be tweaked, but you can get there!

Just don’t forget to include the Lord in on your plans! Remember that with Him “all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

Blessings and joy,
