10 Thanksgiving Gratitude Activities to Do With Kids!

10 Thanksgiving Gratitude Activities to Do With Kids!

I love this time of year.  The fall colors and cooler weather remind us that the holidays are coming soon!  Thanksgiving is one of my favorites and I love all the fun activities you can do to remind you of gratitude.  I love you can do them with your children also.

  1. Gratitude Journals -  We do this all year but if that is too much the month of November and December are great months to keep a journal of all the things your family is grateful for. Things you experienced throughout the year, vacations you took, and/or new additions to your family.
  2. Sponsor a child through Compassion or World Vision (pray for them and write them letters).  Take them to nursing homes and to feed the homeless.  This is just another reminder that there are hurting people who have NOTHING or very little.  If they never hear or see this part of the world how will they know?
  3. Have your children say three things they are thankful for from their day, at bedtime.  I saw this idea and other tips from this video.  We started this and it is WONDERFUL, your kids will start thinking about the things during the day they want to share with you at bedtime.  Also, Ann Voskamp has some great ideas and free journal printouts on her blog for gratitude for you and your children.
  4. Make a Thankful Jar โ€“ Have a jar out in the open with slips of paper and have every drop drops a note of thanksgiving into the jar.  You can do it every day or every time someone is complaining or weekly!
  5. Make a Thanksgiving Tree - There are several ways to make these, I love this one and this one.
  6. Read a series of Thanksgiving Books - Here are my favorite!
  7. Decorate a pumpkin or tablecloth highlighting all that your are thankful for!
  8. You can find a Giving Thanks: Free Thankful Banner Download from Carina Gardner
  9. Parents.com has a Wreath of Plenty Craft
  10. Thanksgiving Bible Verse Cards - Rachel WoJo has provided some beautiful Bible Verse Cards that you can print and frame!  They would make beautiful decorations this Thanksgiving Season!

There are so many fun things you can do together!  I hope you find some ideas to remind you of how thankful we should be.

Blessings,

Angela Richter, Together with Family
